Game Updates

See what is playable now, what Pixel Puffs has scheduled next, and which ideas are still only concepts—without confusing roadmap plans with current gameplay.

Pawsome Resort entered Steam Early Access on June 22, 2026. A free demo remains playable, and official patch notes now post to Steam first—we summarize gameplay changes in our News Center and refresh guides when mechanics shift.

August 20 Recommended Route

For the current Steam build, follow this route until a new Patch Notes post changes the playable systems: secure your first habitat, keep food and water stocked, run one efficient Pebble Town trip, then add quests or exploration only after animals are stable.

The practical walkthrough path is: tutorial → sheep pen → town shop food → Rudgar material turn-in → Serenya feed errands → optional fishing, relationship, boat, or side routes. Do not build your first week around roadmap-only ideas such as future NPCs, co-op, cave combat, or new 2027 animals.

Why this route is safe for players: it only uses mechanics that are live on Steam or described by Pixel Puffs, then compares route order with the Into Indie Games walkthrough hub. Use that hub for extra examples, but keep this route as the safe order for a fresh save.

July 30 Guide Route Refresh

Use the July roadmap as planning context, not as a list of playable systems. For current saves, the useful route is still beginner care loop first, live animal roster second, lodge income third, then farming, build planning, daily shortcuts, and Pebble Town quests.

The practical rule is unchanged: achievements are live, while Steam Deck support, character customization, onboarding revisions, Q4 features, Q1 2027 animals, and undated concepts should not change your current route until Pixel Puffs publishes Patch Notes that make those features playable.

Achievements and the Current Roadmap

Pixel Puffs published this roadmap on July 11, 2026. The labels below separate shipped content from plans so you can judge the current build accurately.

Available now
22 achievements are active on Steam. These are part of the live Early Access build, not a future promise.
Planned, not live
Steam Deck support, character customization, and a revised onboarding flow were listed as July 2026 priorities. Q4 2026 targets home expansion, new animal interactions, decoration items, NPCs, and customers. Q1 2027 targets capybaras, otters, and new habitats.
Undated concepts
Co-op, marine life, dinosaurs, and fantastic animals are ideas under consideration, not confirmed current features. Resort expansion, cave combat, quests, minigames, and dialogue work are also planned without a firm release date in the announcement.

Official Timeline

Milestones from Pixel Puffs' official Steam Community announcements—what happened and why it matters for players.

Free Demo

What happened

On February 10, 2026, Pixel Puffs published the first public Steam demo. Players could care for animals, build habitats, meet Pebble Town villagers, and sample early quests before paying for Early Access.

Why it matters

The demo is still the lowest-risk way to learn the three daily needs and habitat loop. Our Beginner's Guide and Tips pages assume demo mechanics when explaining first-week order.

Steam Next Fest

What happened

The June 16, 2026 announcement marked 50,000 wishlists, a refreshed Next Fest demo, and a confirmed June 22 launch date. The updated demo previewed seasons, romance, weddings, new habitats, and mini-games like canoeing and horse racing.

Why it matters

Next Fest is when many cozy players first saw the full EA scope. If you skipped the festival, read our News Center launch article for the same feature list in one place.

Early Access Launch

What happened

Pawsome Resort went live on Steam Early Access on June 22, 2026. Launch-day and week-one hotfixes followed on June 22–23, then Update #1 on June 26 addressed crop removal, controller navigation, and sprinkler bugs.

Why it matters

Early Access is live—not a future date. Patch notes now appear on Steam first; we mirror gameplay-impacting changes in News Center and refresh guides when costs or controls shift.

Achievements and Roadmap Published

What happened

On July 11, 2026, Pixel Puffs confirmed 22 live Steam achievements and published a staged Early Access roadmap covering July 2026, Q4 2026, Q1 2027, and longer-term concepts.

Why it matters

Achievements are usable now; the rest remains scheduled or undated. Do not plan a save around character customization, capybaras, co-op, or cave combat until a later Patch Notes post confirms release.

Free Demo vs Early Access

The demo is a smaller slice of the same resort loop. Use it to learn feeding, building, and Pebble Town before deciding whether the broader Early Access build suits you.

Playable now — Free demo

  • 20+ animal species with the same hunger, cleanliness, and happiness rules
  • First habitats, town shop, scooter travel, farming, fishing, and early villager quests
  • Lumberjack → Rudgar → Serenya → witch rescue chain (demo ends mid-story)
  • Habitat helper unlock—auto food and water from storage once rescued
  • No hireable staff—you handle every bowl until the helper arrives

June 22, 2026 — Early Access

  • 25+ species, more habitats, and expanded lodge customization
  • Full main questline plus more side missions across Pebble Town
  • Seasonal day-night weather, more villagers, and ongoing story beats
  • Roughly one year of frequent updates—more animals, systems, and QoL
  • 1.0 may add seasonal events, mini-games, and late-game content per developer plans
