Fishing Guide
For A Curious Mixture, keep 3 Golden Perch, 1 Azure Salmon and 2 Ruby Tail. Golden Perch and Ruby Tail are rare sea fish.
What to prepare
Compare your bag with these quest quantities before choosing a fishing trip.
Before casting, subtract the fish already reserved from the quest's 3 / 1 / 2 requirement. If only Golden Perch or Ruby Tail is missing, choose sea fishing; do not repeat the old Ruby Tail bridge route.
| Fish or method | Quest amount / use | Where to go | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Golden Perch | 3 for A Curious Mixture | Sea only; rare | No time or season restriction |
| Azure Salmon | 1 for A Curious Mixture | No exclusive catch zone established here | The sea-only advice names the other two species, not Azure Salmon. |
| Ruby Tail | 2 for A Curious Mixture | Sea only; rare | No time or season restriction |
| Fishing traps | Passive fishing; collect later | Use the trap's placement prompt | Added August 7; no promised rare-fish pool |
Rod controls and the first fish quest
For Special Catch, speak to Lioren at the shop, then use the fishing point to its left. Equip the rod and face the water. When the moving ring reaches the marked zone, use the reel prompt shown on your device; repeat successful timings until the catch finishes. Keep one Golden Koi and one Emerald Bass and bring both to Lioren. These are different fish from A Curious Mixture.
A partial catch is still progress: keep it and plan the next trip around the remaining species. Put quest fish aside before selling, and count the reserved stack rather than every fish caught during the day.
Why am I not catching the rare fish?
For Golden Perch and Ruby Tail, check that you are fishing at sea. They remain rare; changing the hour or season is not required.
Golden Perch and Ruby Tail are sea fish; the developer says time of day and season do not restrict them. If either is missing, keep fishing at sea and count the catch in your inventory before selling. Azure Salmon’s location is still unclear, so check the current journal instead of assuming a spot.
Choose the rod when you want an active fishing session, and traps when you can place them and return later. Passive collection does not establish which rare species a trap can catch; do not plan a guaranteed quest hand-in around it.

A Curious Mixture asks for 75 Silver Ore in the June route. If your active Rudgar request also needs 40, reserve 115 for both hand-ins; recalculate from your journal if either amount differs.
If you also need boat repair, budget its Hardwood and Fiber separately from Rudgar's request before sailing. Learn the dock return route first, and buy an early feed reserve from the shop's Others tab before committing to a longer outing.
